new

So, it's 2013. A new year and a new start and all that. Quite a lot of things are new, including this blog, i'm living in a new city, doing a new course and looking for a new job. This blog is just a way of my putting down my thoughts, and my way of documenting our new life in Birmingham and everything that happens.
We've been living in the Jewellery Quarter for a month now, and it's great, everything I expected and more. When I moved away to Sheffield last year, it was only then that i started to appreciate Birmingham. Don't get me wrong, Sheffield is an amazing place but Birmingham has a different kind of vibrancy, so many different areas and different cultures; an array of restaurants, cafes and shops. It's really up and coming.
The Jewellery Quarter has really stole my heart, it's a warren of beautiful buildings and charming little pubs that do the best food and are the perfect place to hide away on a sunday.
For new year, Tom and I wanted a quiet one but to make the most of the new city we were living in. We booked a table at a new place on Bennetts Hill, called the Lost and Found. It seems there's a new place i want to visit popping up every day.
We arrived at about 8:30pm and upon entering it it's like entering another world. It's decorated perfectly, with different areas to sit in, big comfy chairs and bar area. They've really kept the character of the building, which gives off a sense of grandeur. It was a really nice atmosphere to be in. For food, we had a crayfish flatbread for starters, followed by fish pie for me, and sausages and mash for tom. It was delicious. And of course afterwards I had the worlds biggest cocktail, the 'Ms. H G Watson' which was probably the nicest one i'd ever had, like a big alcoholic slush puppy!
After spending a couple of hours in the Lost and Found, we then made our way to All Bar One on Newhall street to see some friends and to see the new year in. All together a lovely, chilled evening and the best way to start a new year fresh.
(New years day spent watching the Kardashathon, but we won't mention that)
